Scenico for iOS — last updated 28 July 2026
Scenico is made by an independent developer. It is a personal, offline-first app: there is no account to create, no server of mine that your data passes through, and no analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
None. I do not collect, receive, store, or have access to any information about you or your use of the app.
Everything Scenico knows about you lives on your device: the shows and films you follow, which episodes and films you have marked as watched, any ratings carried over from an import, your settings, and — if you provide one — a personal TMDB API key, which is held in the iOS Keychain. Deleting the app removes this data from the device.
If backups are enabled, Scenico periodically copies its local database to your own iCloud account, in a private container that only Scenico can read. These backups are stored by Apple under your Apple Account and are governed by Apple's privacy policy. I cannot see or retrieve them. Only the most recent backups are kept; older ones are deleted automatically. You can turn backups off, and restore or stop using them, in the app's Settings.
Scenico gets all show, film, and artwork information from
The Movie Database (TMDB). When you search
or open a title, the app requests that information directly from TMDB's servers
(api.themoviedb.org and image.tmdb.org). Those requests
contain what is being looked up and, as with any internet request, your device's IP
address. They do not contain your name, your library, or any identifier created by
Scenico. TMDB's handling of that data is covered by its own
privacy policy and
terms of use.
TMDB is the only external service the app contacts.
Reminders for season premieres and film release days are scheduled locally by your device. There are no push notifications, no push tokens, and no notification server.
If you import an existing watch history (for example a TV Time data export), the file you choose is read and processed entirely on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere.
Scenico is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Because I hold no data about you, there is nothing for me to export, correct, or delete on your behalf. You remain in full control of the data on your device: delete the app to remove it, and manage or delete your iCloud backups through iOS Settings.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
